Phixious Drums

I started my woodworking experience building cabinets in 2000 and in 2003 I started building drums.  I started with a snare drum and I was extremely happy with how it turned out.  since that went well I built my first drum set next.  I have played drums for eleven years now and have played my own drums since I finished my first set, and I still love playing that set today.  My drum sets often turn heads and leave people confused trying to figure out what brand it is.  People are not used to seeing the stave drum shells let alone alternating staves.  My drums have their own unique look and a much warmer tone over laminated shells.  Why do i build stave shells over traditional laminated?  I build stave drums because I feel the tone out of solid wood is much warmer than laminated due to the amount of glue used.  Instead of a layer of glue in between each ply I just have a thin layer glue in between each stave.  The less glue used, the less natural tone and sustain taken away from the drum.
